- Tighten the chain tension to firmly support the knives while filing.
- Place the file against the beveled cutting surface of the teeth at a 20 to 45-degree angle with a saw.
- File from the inside out of the cutter
- Sharpen all the left-hand knives on one side of the chain and move them to the other side, then file all the right-hand knives.
- Sharpen all the knives on the left side of one side of the chain
- Check the depth gauge height every 2 or 3 sharpenings.
- The height between the cutting teeth and the depth gauge is between 0.02 and 0.03 inches
